Alfred Calkoen

About the artist: Calkoen is a revered old Dutch name.
The artist Alfred Calkoen learned his craft in Adelaide but is of the Melbourne Bayside School,
He and his wife, Yvonne, created their separate works over the period 1950 to the late 1970's.
A number of Alfred Calkoen’s works are held by the LaTrobe University Art Museum.
Only rarely do Calkoens come onto the market. The two on display here, were purchased directly from the artist. They have been held privately in South Yarra and Canberra ever since by the one distinguished family (Clarke). As a result, the provenance can be firmly established.
