Jason Andrews

About the artist: Being my first notable exhibition, there is very little to say for myself in the form of an artist history. I was born in Melbourne but raised predominantly in Wallan, attending both school and high school in the local region. In 2004 I travelled to Japan as an exchange student for nine months. Following this I finished my secondary studies at the Kilmore International School and moved to Canberra for university where I currently reside. Living on residence at the ANU I have very little space in which to paint, as such I have been working extensively upon my digital media techniques. My digital abstract imagery, builds upon itself through extensive experimentation which consequently has seen it evolve over the past 3 years. The inspiration for my work stems from many various sources, most notably, concepts portrayed through the music of alternative artists such as Trent Reznor, Maynard Keenan and Brian Warner. Additionally I take much from literature, which to me represents one of the most potent forms art available, writers such as Orwell, Suskind, Kafka and Dawkins have enlightened the way I interpret the world around me. Some of their key works, 1984, The Pigeon and The Metamorphosis respectively have provided endless metaphorical expressions to experiment with.
